As of March 1, large and medium-sized companies can now register for the Electronic Judicial Domicile, a tool of the Justice 4.0 Program that centralizes communications about cases sent by Brazilian courts on a single digital platform. Companies have until May 30th to register voluntarily. After this date, private companies will be required to register using data from the Internal Revenue Service, but this will entail penalties and the risk of missing procedural deadlines.<\/p>\n
The Electronic Judicial Domicile is a 100% digital and cost-free solution developed by the National Council of Justice (CNJ), which seeks to facilitate and speed up consultations for those who receive and follow up on summonses, subpoenas and other process communications.\u202f\u202f<\/p>\n
The tool has brought significant changes that require attention to the procedural deadlines for reading and acknowledging the information sent: three business days after the courts send summonses and 10 calendar days for subpoenas. Failure to confirm receipt of the summons within the legal time limit and failure to provide justification will result in a fine of up to 5% of the value of the case for an act detrimental to the dignity of justice.<\/p>\n
It is therefore essential that companies are aware of how the system works and are duly registered in the Electronic Judicial Domicile in order to receive all case information. Users should also keep their registration up to date, pay attention to managing the permissions of profiles linked to the registration and activate the option to receive notifications.<\/p>\n
